One room down!!

One room at a time, right?  Well, we have ONE room done!!  The guest bathroom (read my bathroom since I love a tub more than anything) now has a beautiful floor, a cool ceiling, neat walls, a huge tub, and an awesome vanity and sink.  The flooring will be continued throughout the house with different looks in each area.  Probably solid gray in the hallway,  a combination of colors in the kitchen, not sure about the rest.  It will be pretty though!  Here are the steps we took from start to finish: So we used some wood my mother in law had left over from doing her own bathroom a few years back.  It is western cedar and gives the room a "spa like" feel.   We used  new pine 1x6 tongue and groove for the flooring.  The different colors were stained individually, allowed to dry overnight, and then cut into the floor the next morning.  The floor was  then covered with a special polyurethane just for floors.  2 ...

Our journey...finding our home!

A look into our lives... We are a ministry family.  We have lived in rent houses from Hempstead to Albuquerque.  We moved to Anderson in 2008 and landed in a tiny town with almost zero rental property.  Our first home was thankfully soon very close to the church (across the street), but it was really small for a family of 5.  The old 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths was a far cry from the 4000 sq ft Mc Mansion we rented in ABQ just prior to our move.  We stayed there for over a year and moved into an even smaller house a few blocks away.  That move was a fun one...no insulation in the house made for a couple of $600 light bills.  Ah Hill Street...2 bedrooms and only 1 bath.  We were moving in the wrong direction!  At the end of 2009, our church purchased a gutted out old home adjacent to the church property.  We began the process of remodeling/ rebuilding this beautiful home and it was a joy to watch and work on.  3 bedrooms, 2 full...
